Kia get connected
Kia is set to introduce Android Auto? and Apple CarPlay? functionality across its entire European model range over the next 18 months.
The idea behind the new technology is to allow drivers to be fully connected to their smartphone whilst on the road, minimising the temptation for drivers to have a quick look at their hand-held device while travelling from A to B.
Once the phone is connected to the car, a feature voice control will allow the driver to access smartphone apps and functions through the in-car infotainment system, such as voice-guided Google Maps navigation, hands-free calls, texts and voice recognition, making sure hands stay on the wheel and eyes on the road ahead.
Chief Operating Officer, Michael Cole comments, "In-car connectivity is increasingly important to our buyers who are young-at-heart and often seek the latest technologies on offer. It makes a great deal of sense to offer full Android and Apple compatibility so our customers can use a wide range of smartphone functions in a safe and seamless way. Kia is integrating these technologies to let drivers maintain their concentration on the road ahead."
The new technology will first be introduced on the All-New Kia Niro, Optima Hybrid and Sportswagon vehicles when they are launched in Europe later this year before rolling out into every new model in the Kia range.
